In homage to all of those "100 Days of Happy" posts, I'm going to call my weekly updates "Happy Week". Lets hope it lives up to its name~ I'm posting this one super late - I meant to post every Sunday. Only second week in and I'm already slipping, whoops.
Last week I received several compliments. One manager - one of the higher managers, too - asked if I was happy in my current department, and mentioned that every time they have an opening in their department, they think of me. They said they see how hard I work and asked whether I'd consider moving to another department. Of course, I shared a couple of things that make me unhappy about my current department, so now when I think back all I can do is go, "Why didn't I say thank you and just not mention anything negative?" But it's too late now.
As I was leaving, the second manager, who had been sitting next to the first, said, "We appreciate you!"
In my state, people can return their used soda bottles/cans & alcohol glasses for money - 10 cents per bottle. It's my responsibility to keep the room clean, do minimal machine maintenance, and switch out the bins when they get full. We get the machines through a third party, so when something goes really wrong with the machines we have to call in a technician. One of the technicians was waiting for access to one of the machines in use by a customer, so was sitting in the back while I worked. He goes, "You work so hard. I go to a lot of Wal-marts in the area and you work so much harder than many of the guys in those other places. All they do is whine and complain. Next time I'm there I'm going to tell them about you."
In fannish news, I have taken on a very stupid, ambitious undertaking. Someone new to the fandom asked for some trope-y McShep recs, and I was pretty overwhelmed by the sheer number of possible recs. So I found this list on fanlore and...decided to rec fic for each category? Oh god, so many categories, so many fic. I'm not rec'ing stuff for each category, but I'm down to "Crossover". I probably won't do the last category, though I'll link to my pinboard at the end, lol. I'll post the fic list here when I'm done :)
